The Problem

Many ethnic minority families are struggling in Hong Kong. Through our direct outreach work, we have found that ethnic minority children are often subjected to bullying and educational pressures at school. They face significant challenges in building their identities and establishing peer relationships, which can damage their self-esteem. If left unaddressed, the children may develop severe emotional issues.

For mothers, the majority are living in distress; they often lack the parenting skills to look after multiple children. However, their voice remains largely unheard due to insufficient platforms for help.

Our Work

Our Social Emotional Group targets ethnic minority children aged between 6-12 studying in public schools, with the aim of equipping them with social emotional skills so as to build their resilience.

We will conduct the group sessions for one hour each week over a total of four weeks.  The group explores different topics such as critical thinking, anger management, and resilience, and engages in different creative fun games to strengthen their emotional intelligence. There will be homework assignments for them to reflect on the topics discussed.
